Terms of Service

Last updated: June 25, 2026 · Effective date: June 25, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Quoridors.com governing your use of the game and website at quoridors.com (the “Service”). We've written them in plain language, but they are still a binding contract - please review them with your own counsel before relying on them commercially. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. Who we are

The Service is operated by Quoridors.com (“we,” “us,” or “our”). You can reach us any time at contact@quoridors.com.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live (but at least 13), you may use the Service only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements and that you are not barred from using it under any applicable law.

3. Using the Service

The Service is provided for personal, non-commercial entertainment. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and play the game for that purpose, subject to these Terms.

Above all: be decent to other players, respect the rules, and respect the law.

4. Your account

Usernames. We reserve the right to change or remove usernames that are offensive, misleading, impersonate another person or organisation, infringe intellectual-property rights, or otherwise violate these Terms.

5. Rules of conduct

To keep the game fun and fair, you agree not to:

Quick-chat is intentionally limited to preset phrases to keep play friendly. We may add, remove, or change available phrases at any time. You remain responsible for any content you choose to send through the Service.

6. Fair play, ratings, and results

Ratings, matchmaking, and game records are generally considered final, although we may correct errors or adjust them to address cheating, abuse, rating manipulation, technical failures, or other exceptional circumstances. We may use automated and manual review of gameplay, login, and account activity to detect violations (see our Privacy Policy for how that data is handled).

To keep wait times short, matchmaking (including ranked play) may occasionally pair you with automated house players operated by us. Games against house players are rated normally and count toward ratings, statistics, and match history like any other game.

Games in progress may be affected by disconnections, timeouts, or server restarts; outcomes in those cases are handled by the server's rules.

7. Service availability

We may modify, suspend, discontinue, or remove any feature of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We are not obligated to continue supporting any particular game mode, ranking system, or feature, and we don't guarantee that the Service or any feature will remain available.

8. Enforcement, suspension, and termination

If you violate these Terms, or where we reasonably believe it's necessary to protect the Service or its players, we may take any action we consider appropriate, including issuing a warning, restricting features, separating playing pools, resetting ratings, or suspending or closing your account - with or without notice.

We may also suspend or terminate access for fraud, abuse, security risks, legal requirements, or extended inactivity. If we close an account for a violation, we may retain the minimum information needed to enforce our rules and protect the community, as permitted by law and described in our Privacy Policy.

You may stop using the Service at any time and may delete your account as described in our Privacy Policy. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (such as ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and dispute resolution) will continue to apply.

9. Intellectual property

The Service - including its software, design, graphics, text, logos, and other content we provide - is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Except for the limited licence in Section 3, these Terms don't give you any ownership of, or right to use, our intellectual property.

The underlying Quoridor board game and any associated intellectual property belong to their respective owners. These Terms govern only your use of this website and its software, and do not claim ownership of any third-party intellectual property.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from the Service except as expressly allowed by these Terms or applicable law.

10. Copyright complaints

If you believe material on the Service infringes your copyright, please contact us at contact@quoridors.com with enough information to identify the material, your rights to it, and your contact details so we can investigate. We will respond to valid notices and may remove infringing material and act against repeat infringers.

11. Feedback

If you send us feedback, suggestions, or ideas, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, worldwide licence to use them to operate and improve the Service, without any obligation to you. You confirm you have the right to share whatever you send us.

12. Third-party services

The Service may rely on or link to third-party services - for example, Google sign-in and our hosting providers. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them. Links to third-party sites are provided for convenience and are not an endorsement.

13. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we use it. By using the Service, you also agree to the Privacy Policy.

14. No warranty

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, timely, or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that ratings and results will always be free of error. Games in progress may be lost if the server restarts or a connection drops. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of these may not apply to you.

15. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we (and anyone working with us to provide the Service) will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of rankings, ratings, statistics, game history, achievements, or game progress, or loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Service - even if we've been advised such damages were possible.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed USD $100 or the amount you paid us to use the Service in the prior twelve months (which, for a free service, is typically $0), whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain liability limitations, so some of these may not apply to you, and nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.

16. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and reasonable expenses (including legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of another person.

17. Events beyond our control

We are not responsible for any failure or delay caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, internet or network outages, power failures, acts of government, labour disputes, or cyberattacks.

18. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your home jurisdiction apply.

Let's try to resolve things informally first. Before starting any formal proceeding, please contact us at contact@quoridors.com and give us at least 30 days to work it out with you. Most issues can be resolved quickly this way.

If we can't resolve a dispute informally, you agree that it will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Ohio, and you consent to their jurisdiction - except where the law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere (such as small-claims court or your local courts as a consumer).

19. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the “Last updated” date above, and for material changes we'll give more prominent notice (such as a banner on the site or an email). Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you don't agree, please stop using the Service.
